Join us for an unparalleled experience this summer in Wellington city. Calling all competitive spirits and social riders! Get ready to pedal your way through the heart of the city in a race like no other – Cycle the Golden Mile.

But the excitement doesn't stop there. After you've conquered the Golden Mile, witness the exhilarating spectacle as New Zealand's top road cyclists dominate the streets in the climactic fifth stage of the UCI 2.2 New Zealand Cycle Classic.

Moreover, it's a chance for you to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need. For every entry fee collected from the criterium events on Sunday, January 14th, 50% will be donated to the New Zealand Pompe Charity. Pompe disease, a rare, inherited, and often fatal disorder affecting the heart and muscles, is the focus of this charitable initiative. Distance

Riders bike 1.6km anti-clockwise through the heart of Wellington’s CBD - the Golden Mile.


Divisions: Community ride, Open, Masters One, and Masters Two.

Community ride - Embark on an exhilarating adventure with our community social ride, open to everyone! Experience the thrill of riding on a fully closed circuit situated in the heart of New Zealand's capital. Picture yourself cycling on the very same route that professional riders will tackle during the final stage of the prestigious 2024 NZ Cycle Classic. Join us for a unique and unforgettable cycling experience, where enthusiasts of all levels can come together to share the joy of cycling in a spectacular setting.

Additionally, in the spirit of inclusivity, if we receive more than 20 entries from women cyclists and U19 Men and Women, a dedicated race will be organized.

Race Categories:

Open Grade: Calling all NZ riders under the age of 35! This category is your chance to showcase your cycling prowess and compete against the best in your age group.

Masters One: For our skilled master riders under the age of 50, this division offers a platform to demonstrate your cycling expertise and vie for the coveted championship title.

Masters Three: Cyclists over the age of 50, this is your opportunity to demonstrate that age is just a number as you go head-to-head with fellow experienced riders.

Registration

Registration will take place at MIDLAND PARK. from 10.00am

Please arrive an hour before your event to register your attendance, pick up your race number and listen to the race safety briefing.

 We also ask that you check your bike a few days before the event to make sure it is in good working order. Unfortunately, we cannot supply extra bikes, tyres or puncture equipment for this event.


Prizegiving

Spot Prizes will be presented for the 1st, 2nd 3rd in each race.


Car Parking

Car parking in adjoining streets is subject to parking charges.

10:00am Wellington Criterium - Masters Three

10.35am Wellington Criterium - Masters Two.

11.10am Community social ride - E-Bikes are very welcome in the social ride.

11.30am Wellington Criterium - Open grade.

12.15pm Kids Fun Criterium- different distances.

1.00pm: Final stage New Zealand Cycle Classic.

2.15pm: Official New Zealand Cycle Classic presentations
